CAREER
Porzingis started out playing basketball at the age of 6. He later played for Basketbola klubs Liepajas Lauvas in the youth league. Porzingis was recruited and signed by CB Sevilla in 2010. He scored 12 points and 10 rebounds in his youth debut in January 2012. Porzingis made his professional debut with Cajasol Sevilla in September 2012. He was named to the ACB All-Young Players Team for the 2013-14 season. Porzingis was selected to the 2013 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship All-Tournament Team. He won the 2015 EuroCup Rising Star Award and the Latvian Rising Star of the Year Award.
Porzingis was selected by the New York Knicks with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. He signed a rookie contract in July 2015 and made his NBA game debut on October 28, 2015. He recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds in a win over the Milwakee Bucks. Porzingis played 72 games in the 2015-16 season. He averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks.
